While I think Thome will stay an Indian you really can't blame the guy for wanting to be whined and dined by a few clubs just to well, be whined and dined. I could handle Thome leaving if he really wants to play for the team he rooted for growing up, thats only natural. I will not be able to accept him going to Philly, that's just a money move and I think he's more than that. I say let him play the field, he deserves it.

Tried to convince a teammate (Manny Ramirez) to stay in Cleveland two years ago, perhaps he encouraged Manny to stay even if it meant taking a discount. Now Jim Thome ignores the wants of his teammates who want Jim Thome to stay in Cleveland. Doesn't what your teammates want count for something?
The Bartolo Colon trade helped infuse the Cleveland franchise with three highly regarded prospects. Jim did not want to be traded, and as a result, we may get nothing at all for him.
Philly has a rep that perhaps Jim is not comfortable with, yet we are supposed to "match" or come close to the Philly offer?
Drunken Cleveland Brown fans, who I blame management for allowing them to get so ripped before the afternoon game in which Tim Couch was cheered after getting a concussion and coming out of the game (I assume it was a derisive cheer), might
have tarnished the image of loyal Cleveland fans. Although that was football, not baseball.
Rooney pitches the Cubs with the idea of a hometown discount.
OUCH! Can we get the Cubs first base prospect out of the situation?
Thome wants another power hitter signed. Does Karim Garcia qualify for the job, or is this a third base issue?
Thome needs the DH from time to time, the Philly offer seems stupid to take because Philly is in the national league and there is no DH in the N.L.
Thome has a sometimes suspect back.
Thome seems to have gotten better when most thought he had already peaked.
Any other intangibles I have left out?
